An oil painter and northern explorer who finds her inspiration in the untamed corners of the world. Residing in Gilbert, Minnesota in the Northwoods of Minnesota, Marissa has a deep kinship with the natural world. From a young age, she discovered solace and inspiration in the wilderness, and her love for the outdoors intensified as she embarked on expeditions.


Known as "Marissa of the North" and an "'Art-Venturer", she is described as a fearless adventurer who travels to remote and untamed landscapes to capture the essence of the wild in her compelling work. Her ambitious expeditions have taken her from Coastal Alaska to the Arctic tundra. and the Canadian Rockies. Marissa immerses herself in the raw power and majesty of nature, translating these experiences onto canvas.


Layered within these geographic muses, Marissa feels a deep connection to the northern indigenous cultures of the world. Influenced by her own Nordic and Sarni roots, she also draws from the spiritual cultures of the Inuit, Tlingit, Nenets, Ket. Ainu, and of course the Anishinaabe, honoring the lands where she currently resides. Unconventional inspiration also includes Ojibwe tribal art.
